Author: Nadali. Prepared using AI.
On October 29, Google announced file previews and editing directly inside Gemini chat. Users can type changes in a full-screen view or ask AI to revise a selected passage.
Who benefits
Small teams preparing customer documents that want to review a draft before handing it on. This update concerns editing within chat, not batch edits inside Google Slides itself.
Access and limitations
According to Google Workspace’s announcement, the capabilities are available now to users with Gemini access, including personal and work accounts, in supported languages. There is no separate feature-specific admin switch; access to Gemini itself remains a requirement.
Google distinguishes devices: PDF preview and editing are supported on web and mobile. Documents, spreadsheets, presentations, Markdown, TXT and code are web-only. Do not plan identical workflows for a desktop employee and a colleague using a phone.
A first team check
Our editorial recommendation, not a test we conducted:
- Choose an approved, non-confidential draft. Keep the original separately.
- Request a change to one specific paragraph, preserving figures and approved terms.
- Compare the revision, surrounding text and tables. Check that no important passage disappeared.
- Before sending, open the final file in the application the recipient will use and inspect every page.
The takeaway: choose the device for the required format, and decide readiness after reviewing the final file. Nadali has not tested account access, Ukrainian editing quality or formatting preservation. This is not a guarantee of accuracy or time savings.
