On October 13, 2026, California’s Sheraton Universal Hotel and supplier Sizzle announced the introduction of Rosa, an AI-powered video assistant for guests. According to their joint announcement, guests scan a QR code in the arrival welcome letter and start a conversation on their own phones. No separate app download or in-room tablet is needed.

This is a deployed service according to the hotel and supplier, not an independently measured success. The supplier’s website also marks the project as live. We have not tested Rosa as guests or independently verified its accuracy, time savings or revenue impact.

What changes for guests

The joint announcement says the assistant can answer questions about reservations, parking, dining, amenities, shuttles and local attractions. Requests needing a person can be routed to the relevant hotel team. The companies describe multilingual video conversations, but we have not independently tested the language coverage or answer quality.

Answering a reservation question does not mean confirming or changing a booking. The primary announcement does not disclose every permission the service has in hotel management systems, so do not assume it can independently complete transactions.

What a small hotel should check

The practical idea need not be the video avatar itself: the guest gets one mobile entry point to approved information and a clear path to human staff.

Before a similar pilot, collect 10–20 common guest questions. Ask responsible staff to approve answers about check-in times, house rules, fees, parking, services and shuttles. Test outdated information, ambiguous requests and an action that only an employee may perform.

Ask the supplier what conversation data are stored, who can access them, for how long, and how guests can reach someone without AI. These are editorial recommendations, not allegations of problems at Sheraton Universal.

Measure your own test: correct answers on control questions, transfers to staff, time spent correcting errors and guest feedback. Rosa’s launch alone does not establish cost savings.
