Firebase announced automatic App Check enforcement for AI Logic from November 2. Its October 27 entry also introduced a temporary delay option for already released apps. This is a verified change to access requirements for AI features, not a report of an observed outage.

Who should check their app

Business owners already using Firebase AI Logic in a custom mobile or web app. Using Gemini somewhere in the business is not enough to establish exposure: first ask your contractor whether this particular integration route is involved.

Firebase’s current FAQ warns that requests without valid tokens are blocked when App Check is enforced. That includes old app versions already installed by customers.

What to ask the responsible person

The following is Nadali’s proposed review, not a test we performed.

  1. Record which customer action depends on AI Logic and who maintains it.
  2. Ask the contractor to compare project settings with versions customers actually use. Publishing a new store version does not mean everyone installed it.
  3. Agree a test with fictional, non-sensitive information: an ordinary request, an access failure and a handover to a person.
  4. Decide who will notice a failure, how they will notify staff and which manual route remains available to customers.

An illustrative example: if a store app’s assistant does not respond, a staff member should receive the enquiry through an agreed channel. This is a proposed scenario, not a measured customer case.

A delay does not replace protection

The FAQ gives January 21, 2027 as the last possible deferred automatic-enforcement date. Firebase warns that access to the Gemini API is vulnerable to abuse without App Check enforcement. Do not postpone protection by trial and error to make a warning disappear: a responsible specialist should decide the transition plan.

The App Check instructions distinguish development from customer release: a debug token or debug build must not be shipped in production.

Takeaway: verify readiness of installed versions, not just the latest release. Nadali has not checked the exact activation time or individual projects; we do not claim that every customer has migrated or experienced failures.
