ChatGPT adds iCloud Mail and Calendar as separate plugins

OpenAI is rolling out iCloud Mail and Calendar plugins across ChatGPT plans. Business owners should check account connections, data settings and event changes.

On October 27, 2026, OpenAI announced iCloud Mail and Calendar plugins in ChatGPT. The stated capabilities are finding emails, catching up on an inbox, checking a schedule and updating calendar events. For a business owner already using iCloud, this offers another way to work with email and plans through AI—not a reason to move all business data there.

What is available

OpenAI’s help documentation describes a global rollout across all ChatGPT plans on the web, desktop app and iOS. Workspace settings still apply, and access may arrive gradually. Android is not listed in this announcement.

Mail and Calendar are separate plugins. Each includes read-only contact lookup, but standalone Contacts and Reminders plugins are outside this launch. Connecting email does not automatically connect the calendar. The announcement does not establish email sending or replying; those actions should not be attributed to the launch.

Connection: check the account, not just the plugin name

OpenAI specifies an Apple app-specific password. Enter it in the connection form, not a ChatGPT conversation; do not use your regular Apple password. Mail requires an @icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com address. Calendar requires the primary Apple Account email, which may differ.

Our editorial advice is to first identify which account holds information authorized for this work, then connect only the service needed. Do not attach a personal inbox to a business workflow simply because it is already open on the device.

How to begin without unnecessary actions

  1. Check plugin availability and workspace rules. Read the requested permissions before connecting.
  2. Start by finding one non-confidential email or viewing a schedule. Compare the answer with the original email or calendar.
  3. Before changing an event, check the date, time, time zone and intended calendar. Give a specific instruction about the change; afterwards, open the event and verify the result.

Illustrative scenario: a small studio owner finds an email agreeing a meeting time, then checks it against the calendar. An AI overview does not replace checking the client’s latest agreement. This is a suggested workflow, not a Nadali test result.

Data and disconnection

OpenAI states that information accessed from connected apps in Business, Enterprise and Edu is not used to train models by default. For personal Free, Go, Plus and Pro accounts, this depends on the “Improve the model for everyone” setting. Paying for a subscription does not by itself make personal and work-account rules identical.

Disconnecting iCloud in ChatGPT does not revoke the app-specific password at Apple; that is a separate action in Apple’s controls. Disconnection also does not automatically erase existing conversations or other saved information in ChatGPT.

Bottom line

The change is relevant to people whose work email or calendar is already in iCloud. Start with finding and checking information, and keep calendar changes under explicit control. Nadali has not tested the connection or its actions.

Related: checking an email overview using Gmail AI Inbox as an example. That is a different product with its own limitations, which should not be transferred to iCloud.
