On October 19, 2026, Notion announced a new AI credit system. It already applies to new Business and Enterprise workspaces; existing ones move over on November 2. This reports an announced transition, not a claim that every team is already using the new rules. Notion’s announcement.
What changes
The subscription separates monthly Standard credits for automatic model selection from Select credits for manual model selection and personal Custom Agents. Admins can purchase additional Notion credits for the workspace. The announced AI Command Center is still described as forthcoming, so it is too early to build today’s spending controls around it.
Notion’s help documentation says personal balances cannot be pooled between members or carried into the next month. When the relevant allowance runs out, features using it pause. Continuing on workspace credits requires admin permission and is off by default. Included allowances depend on the plan and purchase arrangement.
One separate future date matters: AI Meeting Notes will start consuming Standard credits on December 1, 2026. Credit and usage rules.
Who should act, and how
Owners of small teams already using Notion AI for work documents, summaries or recurring tasks. Nadali’s editorial recommendation is to agree on both a budget and a non-AI fallback before the transition.
- Check your own balances and reset date in Settings → Notion AI → Usage. Do not budget from someone else’s plan.
- List recurring tasks and name an owner for each. Flag deadline-sensitive work that cannot wait for an allowance to reset.
- Agree who may approve additional spending. Enabling continued usage should not be treated as a free removal of limits.
- Prepare a manual option for urgent work. For example, a team preparing meeting summaries could retain a template for recording decisions and owners without an automated summary. This is an illustrative example, not a tested result.
Availability and verification limits
This article concerns Business and Enterprise; it does not extend these terms to every Notion plan. We checked public documentation, not a particular customer’s workspace settings. Nadali has not measured credit consumption or verified promotional savings claims.
Bottom line: check your allowance and agree what the team does when it runs out before relying on AI for time-sensitive work.
